Get a firewire cable

Connect the cable to both machines with your G4 off and the G5 on
Turn on the G4 and hold down T as soon as the computer starts to boot
You will see on the screen a background with a firewire symbol floating around.
On your G5's desktop you should see your G4 as an external harddrive which you can now open up and drag any files you want onto your G5

Or get an ethernet cable and set up a network connection between the two (check your mac osX help for more info on setting up a network between 2 macs)

I mention this as you might already have a network cable...

But the firewire method is easier!

Just make sure you get a 6-6 pole firewire cable, not a 6-4 or 4-4

i.e. both ends should look like a box about half the size of your keyboard's keys. Not like a small teeny tiny box with an indent at the top...
