10.4.11 Internet connections problem

Please help, after updating software on my iMac, my network wizard says I am connected to the internet, but i cant get onto Firefox , skype and msn.
Please help

Tell us about your connection to the Internet. Do you use broadband (cable or DSL) and if so, do you connect via a wireless router, or just a straight Ethernet connection?

It is on a LAN , when I run the network setup wizard with the IP address 10.2.0.7, Subnet 255.0.0.0 and Router of 10.0.0.1, it does not connect, my administrator says things are fine on his side.

do you have a static IP address or DHCP?

Sounds like a DNS problem. Can you ping 10.0.0.1?
