Hello:

I'm about to order a 15" MB Pro for our photography company.

Technically speaking which would be faster?

1) The baseline 15 inch MB Pro with 2.4GHz processor, 4GB
DDR2 SDRAM, and NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 256MB of
GDDR3 SDRAM

or

2) The upgraded The 15 inch MB Pro with 2.5GHz processor,
2GB DDR2 SDRAM, and NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with
512MB of GDDR3 SDRAM

We are leaning for option 1 because of the extra 2gigs of
ram. I'm unsure of the video ram.

Will we really see a difference with an extra 256MB in
option 2?

Thanks in advance,
CE

Your Mac's Specs
2.33 MBP, 3gb ram, not enough disk space, iPod Classic, iPhone, techno-addiction
Buy 3rd party RAM and install it yourself after the purchase, then get the extra sweet graphics card AND more memory. Apple's RAM prices are outrageous, buy elsewhere for a WAY better deal than the Apple Store.

The .1Mhz CPU speed will really not make a worthwhile difference, but that extra Video RAM might in some cases. It it were me I would do what bd-in-pdx suggested, get the better video and purchase your own quality RAM. Apple charges a premium for RAM.

Buy the Higher Processor... RAM you can always upgrade later... processor you can't.

Option 2, without a doubt.

Had I known about this before I bought mine I would have saved about 100 bucks, just on RAM.

Crucial has 4gb (2x2gb) for 100 bucks, can't beat that.
