I am looking to upgrade my ram in my 1.25 MDD G4 Pro.

I saw a site that was about 99 for a gig of ram, currently I have 712? in ram and would love to buy enough to give me 2 gig. Does the ram really matter I saw similar "PC" ram for about 30 online....

TIA,

I got a 2 GB (2-card kit) for this MacBook for $49 at crucial.com and I'm completely satisfied.

1GB was sufficient running OS 9 but OS X, particularly Leopard loves memory as does photshop and other intensive applications. Do as pineapple suggests and put 4GB in your machine and it will fly.

Also do you run any maintenance programs? If not suggest Onyx, MainMenu or Macaroni. Just do a Google. I like Macaroni as after payment of a small fee it does all those daily, weekly and maintenance chores automatically and keeps a log. Macaroni is a 35 day trial download.

Type of memory really does matter and don't buy cheaper PC memory. Check out OWC for the type of memory, look at their price and then go shopping. OWC are Mac specialist and note all memory comes with a lifetime warranty.

Just bought ram at OWC for my iMac. Comparable price to Crucial (usually a bit cheaper) and fast shipping. I know alot of ppl that at another mac forum have bought from OWC also and are very happy with the price and service.

Comparing the link from the previous post, looks like OWC has the ram you need for quite a bit cheaper than Crucial. Unless Im looking at the wrong thing, its $55.99/1gb stick vs $88.99 at Crucial.

JTAL,

Here's a link to Newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220258 for 4GB Patriot (good brand) memory at $83, a great price. There are a lot of other options as well. Just go from that link to Newegg's other mac memory and take a look. I bought 4GB Mushkin for about $80 after MIR from them and I'm quite pleased with it.
