Can a mini drive surround sound?

I have an old plasma. i want to connect it to some sort of pc/computer and speakers to watch only streamed/downloaded content and occasionally surf. My plasma can only drive 2 speakers but no center channel.

Can a mini drive 3 or 5 speakers? I dont have space for a separate receiver/amp

Probably not since it doesn't support surround sound. You could probably use however many speakers you want if they are powered, they just won't all be on separate channels.
