I have a time machine question.

If I partition a 500 Gig external drive into 2 parts can I use the one partition for Time Machine and the other for other types of back up ?

Or can I use partition 1 for an iMac and partition two for a MacBook ?

Has anyone done something like this before .

Thanks up front. :D

I use SuperDuper!, but while waiting for the Leopard version, did use time Machine on 1 partition while using the 2nd partition of my external for my music and video library.

So, yes, each backup app (or machine) is going to ask you for the location where you want the backup to be. You'll simply select the partition you want to use in each app/machine.

My understanding is that with Time Machine, you can also use the same partition for backing up multiple machines. You do not need separate partitions for this.
