what first: boot camp or fusion

OK im looking at fusion for my windows part but also want boot camp to run it natively on occasions.

So am I better to do a boot camp install of windows first and then fusion or vica a versa >??

2019 iMac 27"; 2020 M1 MacBook Air; macOS up-to-date... always.
Install Windows via Boot Camp first. Then Fusion can use the same Windows volume.

Exactly, install via BootCamp. Then when you install Fusion it'll list the bootcamp partition as a source to boot from.

I don't know if this will happen to you, but when installed, it wouldn't show the bootcamp drive at first. So I hit "new" like I was going to install a new OS to run, and then went back and it finally showed the bootcamp partition.

I advise you parallels instead of fusion, I use and I like it. Bootcamp you may use for gaming!
