Macbook Pro External Monitor Trouble

Yesterday, I plugged my external monitor into my MBP and it worked perfectly. Today I tried it and the external screen is black. Any suggestions?

First, check to make sure you don't have any bent pins on the connector. Then, attach the monitor again, go into System Preferences => Displays => Click on Detect Displays. If it doesn't come up, you may have a faulty monitor. Try it with another system.

Does your monitor have VGA and DVI inputs? I had a monitor like that and sometimes it would switched to VGA, so I had to hit a button on it to switch to DVI and then the screen would come up.
