• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I made a dvd via idvd, it was quite short about 30 mins in total but when i play it back on my mac or on a standalone dvd player the video has ripples in it , like the ripples you see in water. Does anyone know why? i've selected best performance and best quality from the project info page, but its the same on both.

btw the ripples happend like all the way through....however when i preview the project in idvd it looks fine...there are no ripples when previewed with idvd....

plz help.....

You may have a problem with the media you're using. Have you tried a different blank DVD format? For example, if you're using DVD-R, have you tried DVD+R?

I think i figured it out, i had the video format to mpeg (when you choose the name of the project). I changed it to DV and it is fixed....

What is DV? i heard that its for camcorders, but I have never seen a file extension of something like .dv.... is it very rear or uncommon or something

Dv, is used for most camcorders in the market.
if possible see if you can use other type of company's media. such as sony, tdk etc
