I have a 2007 model mac book pro with upgraded ram and a brand new battery.
A while ago i took the keyboard/front off to clean inside it and now the keyboard and touch pad dont work (im guessing i just missed out a connection, however i dont know which one.)
Apart from this it has a few scratches etc.
how much do you reckon its worth in £ sterling please?
I'm selling due to the fact that i have a 27" imac, macbook and ipad :)

It should just be a ribbon connector. Try and open it up again and just see if the plastic ribbon has come out of the connector on the motherboard.

I had a look at that and it's connected i think there is a chance it might be damaged.

Gently pry the ribbon connector off and examine the pins. Are any bent? Use a magnifying glass if you have one on hand.

Regards.

Post a shot if you can, but if the ribbon connector side is damaged that means a new cable. However, if it's the logic board side - in other words, the receiving end, then it means changing out the board if the connector can not be repaired.

Regards.

It's difficult to tell from that photo, however, the end looks like it might be bent. You may be able to get another cable or possibly make that one work if you're careful. In any event, if the ribbon cable is damaged it's likely why your keyboard and trackpad are not working.

How much would either of those bits cost?

In U.S. dollars...a replacement keyboard (which includes a new trackpad) is $169.00. I do not believe the keyboard ribbon cable is replaceable. A new logic board is around $399.00-$499.00 depending on the exact Macbook you have.

Yupp..that 's the way to go. It's too darn expensive to repair a 3 year-old computer...and then try to sell it as working.

Believe it or not...you're computer is worth less (100% working)...than the cost of a new logic board.:(

Good luck,

How much would you say it is worth on the british market as faulty?

Just put it up for sale on e-Bay with a reserve price you're comfortable with. What it ends up selling for is what it's worth.
