I re-read the FAQ and did a forum search but didn't find my answer. How do we know (or is there anyway to know) how many Rep points we are giving when we give Rep?

Moved this... ;)

You don't know, that's not really public. Just know that the longer you've been here and the more rep you have the more your rep counts for others.

Figured I wouldn't start another thread, just a small question. Do people know who gave them rep if no comment is left?

cool. thankyee!

Before you get too carried away in joy, the administrative staff does know who gives rep, anonymous or not. And any abuse of the rep system will result in an infraction.

Yep, I tried to give rep to two worthy souls and got a message back saying that I needed to spread it around so there can be NO abuse of the system..which is good..otherwise Razor & Kev would be filled up to their boots! (whoops did I just abuse the system?)O:)

How exactly would one 'abuse' the reputation system as I have got the same message as the above poster when trying to give rep to someone. I have no favourites and only try to reward who I feel was really helpful and gave great advice in a post or two. So can you explain?

You can abuse it by using it incorrectly as a corrective. For instance, you can go around giving people unwarranted negative rep or you can use it for retribution. You can also use it to "settle" frivolous arguments.

OK thanks. Sounds pretty juvenile. I can't be bothered with that type of stuff.
