G4 POWER PC MDD. 867 MHz. OS X 10.3.2
My first post as a a MAC user!

I have inherited a G4 PowerPC MDD having spent my computer life entirely on PCs.

I bought Final Cut Express 2 as this fitted the spec of my machine and offered what I need for editing. The Mac runs OSX 10.3.2 and things are fine with the FCE 2. The Mac has an aftermarket DVD writer but no software so I thought I'd buy iLife for its burning software and decided on iLife '08 as this seemed a good fit for my elderly Mac.

On attempting to install it's telling me I need OS X 10.4.9. My questions are as follows:

1. Can my Mac run this upgraded OS?
2. In upgrading, will this cause my FCE 2 to wobble or stop working?
3. Should I have gone for an older version on iLife?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

;)

1. Yes...but it's going to cost you a bunch of money.
2. It should be ok.
3. Probably...because you have to spend a bunch to upgrade to OS 10.4.

FYI...there are plenty of FREE CD/DVD burning software programs out there...no need to use iLife.
