Thinking about writing up a review of my new mechanical keyboard for the Mac-Forums Blog. It has been a nice change from my old keyboard.

That'd be awesome Stretch, which one did you end up getting?

My father-in-law was one of those nuts who got to the Apple Store at 3am on Friday for the release of the iPhone 6. He managed to score a 128GB iPhone 6 Plus for him and a 64GB iPhone 6 for my mother-in-law.

I swore to myself that I would NOT buy a new phone right now (my contract isn't up until 7/2015), but man, I gotta tell you - that iPhone 6 is pretty hot. Not just for the bigger screen, but the overall design (it's unimaginably thin) is far superior to any previous iPhone (IMO).

So tempted to call Verizon today and see what, if anything, they'll do for me.

The IP6 does look good. If you do get one will it be a 6+ or plain 6?

I will probably go with the regular 6, 64GB. The 6+ is WAY too big. I carry my phone in my pocket and I just don't see that happening with the 6+, at least not comfortably.

I used both for quite a bit, helping them out with settings and restoring from iCloud backup. The screen is a quantum leap over any other phone I've looked at. Really, it's that good.

I also agree. With my eyes not as sharp the 5.5" would be nice but really for the cloths I wear would be a pain to get into and out of my pocket. I will stick with 4.7" one also. Thanks for the report!

Normally by now Anand of Anandtech would have his Iphone review up but he has quit Anandtech and was hired by Apple in Cupertino along with his other main CPU designer friend! Apple was smart hiring them but I will forever miss their reviews on Anandtech!

Awesome story Chris!:) You're father-in-law must be a "gadget geek";)…who is very proud to be the first person on the block with a new "electronic toy/tool"!;)

Also great to hear that you think that the iPhone 6 is pretty desirable. And not too big as some folks seem to suggest.:)

He had a 4S and was really wanting the larger screen. So, he's been following along with the rumor mill since way back when.... he couldn't wait to get the 6+ once he saw that the rumors were true.

Not at all. The normal 6 is a perfect size in my opinion, it makes my 5 look antiquated (and I swear I'm squinting at it more). The 6+ is pushing it a bit in my view, but I can see how some might like it.

I'm just not eligible for subsidized pricing until 7/15 (Verizon), otherwise I'd buy one.

Norwood is a Mid-2010 15 inch MacBook Pro with 10.11.1.
I'm tempted by the new iPhones, but not having a micro SD card slot is a real deal breaker for me.

That cake looks amazing, CrimsonRequiem. I haven't made any cakes recently, but I did make a paella over the weekend.
