My four-year old got a hold of may Macbook (osx 10.4.11). My screen looks pixely. Tried all the display settings, no success. When I restart, the screen appears normal for a split-second and then looks like the picture I attached.

Can someone tell me What The?

Looks okay to me...

Is your System Colors set to millions and not thousands?

You might also click on the Colors button and seeing if the something else but Adobe RGB is selected.

Edit: I also found this at Metafilter: Purposely select a larger resolution, then set it back to the previous resolution.

Hard to say with such limited information. What trauma did it undergo, or were there no witnesses?

Is it under warranty? (Might not help if the failure is due to some type of abuse.)
