Need Help with Video everything!

I am living in a dorm with 9 other people and I had this idea to make a dvd of everything and anything for future people to watch when living in the dorm. I have a digital camera, final cut hd, and imovie, and idvd.

Can I use my MBP's web cam to record stuff or do I have to have a video camera?

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Yes you could use imovie to record video from your isight but its not that good of a video camera, if you want better quality you should stick with a real camcorder. Since you have final cut I would think that you already have a camera? What else are you trying to do though?

I got Final Cut in March when I ordered my MBP. No I don't have a video camera.

I want to basically have each roommate sit down, answer some questions or just talk about themselves and how they like the college and etc..

Then throw in some pictures of all of us and music of some kind.

It will be simple since I have no clue what I am doing.

If you have Quicktime Pro, you can record directly from your built in iSight. Just open Quicktime (make sure you have no other cameras plugged in). The click File -> New Movie Recording, then click the red button to start it. Then inport the files into iMovie or Final Cut, play with the clips a bit, do some editing..... you have your self a movie..

I don't have QuickTime Pro. Is QuickTime Pro worth getting?

No don't go and do all that, you already have imove, just start a new project, and go to capture and click the down arrow and pick isight and it will bring up the video and you can import from their and if you want to use final cut you can drag the clips when your finish recording frim the clipes area onto the destop and then import them into final cut, I think that's the best way to do it since you already have imove hd. No need to go and pay monthly for quicktime pro.
