I'm looking for the best way to convert my LP vinyl albums to MP3 through my iMac. Any suggestions on what works best? Thanks.

Can't find it either! Silly search engine. Ok. I'll re post my way again, but it'll be tomorrow.
To be short I do LP->MP3 like this:
1. I hook up my gear: Turntables to mixer, mixer to soundcard.
2. Fire up CoolEdit and click record.
3. Fire up turntable and let it play to the end
4. After recording, let a noize remove plugin cleanup the crackling sounds.
5. Mark track starts and end in the file and then CoolEdit automaticly saves them to serperate MP3's.....

I would use Audacity to separate the tracks. It's free.

The only problem with Audacity is that it doesn't save as MP3, it needs LAME.
Audio Hijack Pro is better.

Well, I've made the plunge. I purchased an Audio Technica AT-LP2D-USB turntable. It was $85. Included was Audacity. Easy to setup, plugged it in to a USB slot and away we go. I can't believe how easy it is to record an album. The sound is great through my iMac and the Bose speakers I have connected. It came also with a manual to configure it properly. I'm not a technical guru, but this really was simple.
So last night I played with a couple of albums. Same artist so I recorded them all together. Cut some of the dead time between tracks and edited out some clicks. Very simple. Thus far I've only saved it as a WAV file and inserted the track titles. Working on how to split the tracks into separate songs before I import into iTunes. Based on some of the comments I've seen, including one I found from Kevriano, that may be the stickler. Might have to do so manually. If so, well, that's life I guess. I've also read where converting to an MP3 reduces the sound quality but is a smaller size. Can't comment on that yet, but the sound quality as is in a WAV file is really good.
BTW, I'm using Snow Leopard and no issues at all with this Audacity program (v 1.2.6).
Will post some more comments as I do more.

Ok now I've totally figured it out. It takes a little bit of attention, typing and, of course, time, but this is better than I expected. Admittedly, the directions that come with the Audacity software leave a whole lot to be desired, but after doing some more searching I found this little tutorial that someone posted which made everything fall into place.
