A single kernel panic is not worth wasting your time doing any troubleshooting.

You are sure you held the appropriate keys for each long enough?

What is happening when you try to boot into either one of them?
Is the machine starting, doing nothing, beeping at you...???

edit:
Have you tried booting from your Snow Leopard disk and running a verify/repair of the drive?
