Firewall Setting

2.16 GHZ MacBook Black 2GB's RAM 200GB Hard Drive
What should I have my firewall setting at. Is setting is to allow only essential programs the best?

I am using my Macbook on my home network with WEP security.

Black MacBook- 2.2GHz, 1gb RAM, 160GB, Double-Layer Superdrive.
i wouldn't even suggest to have the firewall on.

I am also interested in Firewall settings.

I use 10.5. I am using my MBP on my home WPA secured WIFI network, about 50% of the time. The other 50% is spent on a WEP, public network.

I use .mac and am trying to get "back to mac" working. Should I also turn off the firewall?
