Hello. I own a ppc g5 dual processor.
It would start when i press the power button but no image would show up on the screen, and the fans would go crazy!. At first the g5 would boot after a few attempts, but now it just "the fans going wild and no image" thing.
Please anyone. i need help.

Sounds like something related to the video card. The first thing I would do is...remove the video card & reinstall it (this may help). If not...then it sounds to me like it may be a bad video card.

If you mean should you turn the Mac on without the video card...no. This really wouldn't help anything...since with no video card...you will still get no video on the display. Plus...with out a video card...the computer will think something is wrong...and you will probably get the same results (no video...and high fans).

Just remove the video card...then reinstall it. If this doesn't help...then the video card may be bad...and need a replacement. With a roughly 10+ year-old computer...almost anything is possible.

FOR THE LOVE OF MIKE DON'T DO THAT

Sorry for the shouting. If you mean that you are going to connect the video card with the Mac plugged and and turned on don't do that.

What Nick means is to shut off the Mac. Leave the Mac of while you remove the card and re-seat it properly in the slot. Only then should you re-assemble everything and reboot the machine.

Exactly what I meant!:) Thanks for clearly stating how it should be done!:)

Computer repair 101;)...ALWAYS have everything powered off & unplugged before working inside (discharge all static as well)!:)

I hope he didn't mean that too. Unfortunately, I had visions of someone getting a nasty result when they tried to re-cinnect the card int a "hot' slot.
