Installing Windows OS on External HD?

I have a 250gb MyBook pro external hd connected through my firewire 800, and i was wondering if i could install vista on it, and boot it using bootcamp?

In a word, no. Not only will Boot Camp not let you do it, the OS itself wasn't designed to be installed on an externally attached drive. Meaning, that it's not just a limitation of Boot Camp, it's a limitation of Windows in general.

Like most things Microsoft, Windows assumes it is lord and master of the universe. It requires that it be installed on the first partition of the first hard drive of the machine. So unfortunately, it will not allow you to install it on an external HDD.
