Does snow lepord really not read SDXC?

2012 15" MBP 2.6 i7 GT 650M 16GB RAM/2012 27" iMac 3.4 i7 Radeon HD 6970M 2GB 24GB RAM
So my laptop (2010 13.3" MBP) will read 32gb cars but not 64? Would upgrading to mavics help this or is it a hardware issue?

I have tried both a Dynex USB adapter and the SD card adapter in the reader

Only from what you posted above, appears it is reading the card just fine.

? An error pops up and says "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" or something 32gd sandisk works fine, 64gig doesn't

Could be bad ...

Your first post above - am assuming that's from Disk Utility?
Have you tried reformatting the disk?

Your first post above - am assuming that's from Disk Utility?
Have you tried reformatting the disk?
Through the mac? I formatted it on my friends S4, same message.
