300 dpi or 600? or something else?

I am archiving to dvd for a client.... they may or may not want to edit and print at some point.

macgig,

I used 600dpi for a long time and after reading many articles in mags like PCPhoto, I decided 300dpi will give you as good as you need. Try a little experiment. Scan one at 600 and the same one at 300 and print each and compare. No difference? That's what I found at least, so now I just use 300dpi and save a lot of hard drive space, too...

Have you asked the client what they would prefer?
