i just placed an order with the campus store.

Apple Macbook Aluminum
2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor
160GB hard drive
3-yr AppleCare hardware warranty
Microsoft Office 2008 for OS X

total including tax: $1495

after 15% academic tax break, it'll cost approximately $1270.

did i get a good price or should i have gone with a pc?

Its always a good idea to get ant ram upgrades from Crucial, but you dont say if you have speced any extra RAM in that set-up

For a mac that is a good price.

For a PC you could have gotten a Quismo toshiba with dual 9800M GTS graphics cards and a 17 inch display for the same price.

The mac is a better choice for computing, the toshiba is better for gaming.

It's always good to know more facts and to ask this question before you buy, but what are you using it for?

You'll love the mac.

If you are just going to use the computer for school stuff you will love the mac.

I have a 2.4 Macbook and I installed 4 gigs of crucial myself. Even not using a bunch of hardware intensive applications it still makes a noticeable difference.

Personally I run a virtual xp machine so giving it the extra ram is a huge plus. If you aren't to worried about the performance you can hold off but it does solve some random hang issues I had when running the vm.

I still can't justify playing games on a Notebook.

I would rather play them on a actually gaming rig so I can actually relax.
