Give the built in search features a try. Do either of the following:

1. Use Spotlight - click the magnifying glass icon in the right corner of the menubar. When the window appears start typing the program name. When the right program appears press Enter/Return

2 Open the Applications folder at the main "root" level of your Mac's hard drive. The upper right corner of that Finder window should have a search box. Start typing the name of the program. As you type the results of your search appear in the window

Applications that came with your Mac should be in the Applications folder. Notes is part of Mail, but you'll have to buy Numbers from the App Store.

You could also invoke Launch Pad and enter a search there if you have Mountain Lion.

You need to have Numbers, Pages etc actually on your Mac. Can you ®emember paying for and downloading them through the MAS or have you a older version OS where you got Pages, Numbers and Keynote on a install DVD ??

If you havnt got numbers on your Mac you need to click on the Big Blue cicle in your Dock with the Big A in it and its called the Mac App Store. Then in the top right search bar of that App you need to type Numbers, Pages and so on and buy it through your Apple ID, and not until then will it be downloaded onto your Mac.

UYour question is very vauge so a bit more info on your problem as well as your Mac Spes and what OS you are running is always helpful.

Cheers

How do I search for apps such as Numbers, Notes etc?

Notes came with your Mac. If it's not already on your Dock, look in the Applications folder.

Applications that came with your Mac should be in the Applications folder. Notes is part of Mail, but you'll have to buy Numbers from the App Store.

This is partially incorrect, MightyGem. Notes is a standalone app as of 10.8. You are of course correct about Numbers.
