I don't think so, and no, there is no green light.

Well if the green light isn't on then the camera isn't on.

1) Try a reboot.
2) Try resetting the PRAM
3) Try pulling the battery and power cable and letting it sit.

I had my audio disappear after a very close lightning strike the other night and pulling the battery made it come back.

resetting the PRAM didn't work. Any other suggestions?

Well, if you tried pulling the battery and resetting it, then I guess I would call Apple or take it into the store. Could be a hardware issue that would be covered under the warranty. Given you are still in the warranty period.

Is there an application that is similar to Photobooth so I can see whether is is a hardware issue or not???

You can try to use something like Skype and see if the webcam feature works.

This has happened to me about 1 or 2 times in a month period time and all I did when this happened was just shutting it down for a few minutes and then rebooting and sure enough it works again. Also when that would happen I would log into my Stickam account (video chatting website) and the camera would work just fine so I believe it's just a photobooth hick-up. Also ever since I reformatted 3 weeks ago that hasn't yet happened.

Try what I listed above reformatting. Just a simple shut down for a few moments then boot it back up. That worked for me.
