Clamshell compatible charger

Would this universal charger work well with an Indigo Clamshell iBook?

The wattage on my original Clamshell iBook charger is 45 watts. The charger you're looking at is 100 watts...so it might be bit on the high side.

Ok, this one should work. I think even the head is the right size. Confirmation?

Can you provide a link so we can see what your thinking of purchasing?

I don't know what options you have available to you in New Zealand...but why not check e-Bay & get an original Clamshell iBook charger?

An original Yo-Yo would be nice, but they don't come around often. I am looking within a budget of $40 too, so this seems to take the cake.

Thanks for the link. The 45 watt output would be correct for the Clamshell...but looking thru the list of compatible models...it doesn't list the Clamshell.

I used to have an iBook G4 14" 933mhz (one of the computers in the list)...and I looked at the round connector that plugs into the Clamshell...and it appears that the Clamshell's connector is a bit larger in diameter than it was for my G4 iBook.

So I'm thinking that the connector on this adapter would be on the small side for the clamshell. I'm not 100% sure, since I don't have a power adapter for a G4 iBook to compare...but I'm probably 90-95% sure.

But I do believe I have a better solution for you. Look for a power adapter for a:

- Powerbook 1400
- Powerbook G3 "WallStreet"
- Powerbook G3 "Pismo"

These use 45watt power adapters & they seem to have the correct plug size for the Clamshell. I do have the power adapters for both the Powerbook 1400 & Powerbook G3...and the connector is the same for the Clamshell.

By the way...here's a link to an e-Bay auction for a "Yo-Yo" adapter (they do ship worldwide):

I just tipped my Clamshell over and on the back this it what reads:
24v === 1.875A max

I was 99% sure it would work, until I found this link which claims an identicle charger is incompatible. Sad.

EDIT: Hey, I found this link. It has just the specs I need. My computers model is M6411 which wasn't listed, however it does say that it is compatible with Indigo. What are your thoughts?

FYI here is my poor recently purchased Indigo sitting quietly on the bed, with a very cold hard drive.

Since the list of compatible laptops includes all of the "Clamshell iBooks"...it looks to me like this adapter should work...so I would say go for it.

It also lists compatibility with the laptops that I mentioned earlier (Powerbook 1400, G3 Wallstreet, and G3 Pismo).
