Is there a way to set the default storage location for Imovie 08 and IDVD 08 to something other than Macintosh HD? I have a large Esata HD and I want all the project files and Movies to default to that location. I have a lifetime of camcorder videos that I am in the process of importing and moving them around is a pain.

I'm not sure, but try going to your home folder (the little house icon) and going to Movies and selecting the following: iMovie Events, iMovie Projects, and iMovie Sharing (for exporting to itunes i think)

Create and 'iMovie Events' folder in the top level of the external drive. Drag & drop the contents from the iMovie Events' folder in your personal Movies folder to that new location. You can also tell iMovie 08 to do it for you by performing the drag & drop from within it.

As for the projects, I'm not sure they can be moved. You can try it I suppose.

You could have multiple external sources of video, but make sure they are formatted MAC OS and they are connected by FIREWIRE.

The OP is talking about hard drives. USB should act fine as long as OS X can write to it.

Maybe it could work with USB, I have not try it, imovie suggest that you must use firewire, but again not sure. I did try to use USB but formatted in FAT and it did not work.

However in my personal opinion I would strongly suggest to use FIREWIRE for video editing, the amount of data is high and will be a lot faster.
