RAM upgrade question Early 2011 MBP

RAM: (i have from an old windows pc-notebook)
I have DDR3 PC3 10600
1333MHz 2x4gb SODIMM

Will it work in MBP early 2011 13 inch 2.37ghz intel hd3000?

I guess I mean to ask will any RAM from any manufacturer that has the proper specs

do I have to do anything to the ram when I switch it?

Just try it. If it works it works...if it doesn't...it doesn't. It's not going to hurt anything to try.

If it doesn't work...then get the correct ram from these guys:

Is this applicable to the new MBP (non retina)?
On the Apple site, the max memory upgrade seems to be up to 8GB?

Nope. The Retina models have the memory soldered fast. There is no way to upgrade outside of what Apple supplies. If they don't offer a 16GB option from the factory, then you're stuck with 8GB.

Yet another of the many examples of why the Retina MBP sucks.
