Anyone know what is better about each of these applications?

Edit: Pages looks great but how does it really work? How does it feel to use compared to Word?

Well I just got iWorks yesterday. I'll go into more detail later but here's my initial impression.

I have both iWorks '05 and MS Office 2004. Pages is no "Word Killer" in any way shape for form. Pages is a very cool app, don't get me wrong. But as for a fully featured word processor, it just doesn't hold water. Pages is more like a lightweight version of MS Publisher. So it's a little bit more versatile in pages setup, etc than Word but it doesn't nearly have as many features or formatting options as a regular, full featured word processor does.

I haven't tested the Pages to Word or Word to Pages importing yet.

So overall, I think Pages is fine in a casual, home environment or maybe even very small business. But honestly, I think that's what iWork's market is anyway.

For a business, school, or any other setting heavily using MS Office, stick with Office.

Pages

I personally prefer pages as it has a much more user friendly feel to it, and it is just as good or perhaps better than word. It is a much more sleek design, SOOOO easy to use and, well, I just find it great.

Although, it depends what you need word/pages for. Below is a table showing what would be best for who:

Professional Business: Word
Young Kids: Pages
Small Company: Pages
Homework: Pages/Word
Student: Pages/Word
Un-employed :D: Pages

So, whichever one of those you are, then that would be the one for you :D

Hope I helped.

P.S. Overall I would say that Pages would be best.
