can't scratch

:tusks: Just got an iMac, partitioned hard drive. I am installing Adobe CS to my 'applications' partition. Worked fine. Opened Photoshop, set scratch disks to another partition I designated to scratch disks. Upon relaunching Photoshop I get the message "cannot initiate photoshop disk can't be found" (or something to this effect do not have exact words)

I fixed that problem and am able to launch photoshop again...but now I am hesitant to designate my scratch disk. How do I set my scratch disk correctly?

Thanks in advance for your help

That's a strange one. I can set my external Firewire as a scratch disk no problems.

What format did you use for the scratch disk partition?

Alright, now we're sort of getting somewhere...

Right click that drive and select Get Info, then tell us what format it uses.
