The most ram any iMac G5 can be upgraded to is 2.5gig (and this is only a couple of the last models). Earlier iMac G5's can only be upgraded to 2gig of ram.

As to the mention of "Lion" in the thread title. No way you can upgrade to Snow Leopard (10.6) or Lion (10.7). To upgrade to either of these OS versions the computer needs an Intel cpu...and iMac G5's do not have an Intel cpu.

Regarding the trackpad. If you're talking about Apple's "Magic Trackpad"...you can't do this either (at least not with an iMac G5). To use a Magic Trackpad...you need a minimum of OS 10.6.4...which an iMac G5 cannot run.

So unfortunately...all three things (3gig ram upgrade, Lion OS, and Magic Trackpad) cannot be done.

If you already have Lion...and if the max. ram is 3 gig...then you DO NOT have a G5 based iMac...as the thread title & your earlier post mention.

If you go to "About This Mac" window again...you will see this. It will either say...Core Duo or Core 2 Duo (not G5).

Yes to both, though I think you will need to upgrade to at least 2GB RAM for Lion
