What brand is the HDD? 7200 RPM is faster so it's not really surprising that there is noise. What's annoying is the vibration that you can feel when typing.

When you change your HDD from 5400 to 7200 is there a change that your MacBook will become warmer?

Well I didn't notice anything different when I installed a 7200 RPM HDD on my MBP, but I'm getting a new 7200 RPM HDD on Monday and I'll install that in my new MB so we will see. ^-^"

Seagate Momentus 7200.3 7200RPM **SATA** Notebook drive with 16MB Cache. There some vibration from the new hard drive and a whirring sound that I did not hear with the original drive. The problem is not unbearable but something to consider if anyone is thinking about upgrading their hard drive. I did not notice the MacBook getting any hotter.

I bought the same HDD you did but It's super quiet. I did notice that there is a slight vibration, but it's not that bad because I only feel it if I rest my palms on the pad.
