I've had my MBP for about 9 months now and have had absolutely no problems with it 'til now.

The F9 & F10 keys are suppose to adjust the brightness of my screen, but for the last week or so it's not letting me. When I hit one of those two keys, it displays the little circle with the line through it saying I can't do that.

I've played around with the system preferences, but haven't found anything that works. I do have have the computer set to automatically adjust screen brightness as the light in the room changes, but when I disabled that there was no difference in the F9 & F10 keys.

If anyone knows how to fix this let me know please!

Aren't the f9 and f10 keys for the backlit keyboard brightness? My screen brightness is on f1 and f2.

They are supposed to be working. You wouldn't want broken backlight buttons now would you?

they only go on if the ambient light sensor detects low light then once they are on you can adjust the brightness behind the keys.
