I the latest Macbook pro, entry level 15'' (4 gigs of ram 5700rpm hd), I've noticed that when opening folders, it takes around half a second to over a full second for items within the folder to appear. This is my first mac so i don't have any other OS or hardware specs to compare it to but i was just wondering if this was normal for all macs or if this has anything to do with my macbook having the 5700rpm hd as opposed to the 7200rpm one.

There is no such thing as a 5700RPM HDD. It's 5400.
