So I got a ticket about a month ago.
Similar to "My dog ate my homework.", my cats like to play with paper...Guess what vanished...Yes, the ticket.
So I called the court today, I live in Pasco county, where I got the ticket. I asked them for the ticket number.
...They said the only ticket they have on file is the one I got in August, but they don't have the one I got in October.

This is the kicker:
The lady said I was responsible for keeping the ticket so that I could pay for it.
...Funny...Isn't the cop responsible for turning the ticket in too? Thousands of people lose tickets yearly. Of course, I have to be the exception - someone who lost their ticket and it's not on file....Now most people would get lucky and hey, the cop didn't turn it in, so no ticket! But I know the drama and luck I go through in my life....The lady said I should call back every day to see if they got it...But it just doesn't make sense...I got the ticket almost a month ago, shouldn't they have it on file by now??? I'm really stumped to see what I should do here.... =\

Way... way too many specs to list.
hrm.

You don't have your copy of the ticket and they don't either. Sounds like when I ordered a dell monitor, received two, called them and told them I'd gotten an additional one in error and was told that was impossible.

Call again in a couple weeks ;)

They should really digitalize these things. I think it would make peoples lives easier if you could digitally access tickets and fines.

Sometimes you can't beat just plain old paperwork - everything's getting a bit too "big brother" at the moment.

I just don't want to have to pay late fees and stuff....What doesn't make sense is maybe it got lost? I mean...The cop should've filed it at least 2 weeks after it happened...Plus I don't want to get my license suspended...But maybe I got lucky?

Yea, if you could have it sent to your phone as a reminder, or emailed to you. Great idea and good point.

They will eventually send you a court notice saying they want to see you in court on a certain date for not paying the ticket (if it ever gets processed), which then of course if you dont show up a warrant gets put out for your arrest, or just play really dumb and when/if you get it call and tell them you completely forgot... they are usually pretty understanding in my past experiences. I say dont pay it until then, think of it this way... pay an extra 10-20 bucks then in late fees (if it happens), or pay ~150 some now that you may never have to pay if the ticket got misplaced... Sure its probably not the "right" way to do it, but its sure how I would go about it... Quit worrying about it until you get a notice in the mail. My 2cents

I wish that's how much late fee's were.

From the bottom of my ticket notice:

"WARNING: $300 WILL BE ADDED TO THE BAIL AMOUNT IF YOU DO NOT PAY BY THE DUE DATE"
Quit worrying about it until you get a notice in the mail. My 2cents
He got the ticket a month ago. He should have already received the notice.

Well...While spraying underneath my bed to kill any bugs, guess what I found! Yep! The ticket!!! I had 30 days from October 30th to pay for it and as you guys can see, I called on the 24th...You guys think I'm in the clear? I DID get a whole flurry of traffic school flyers randomly last Friday...I'm too scared to call the clerk's office haha

You don't have the option of an online traffic school to reduce the fee?

I know! You should sell your PowerBook! I know, that's what you're doing. You almost got off the hook, too!

You said in your other thread that you have a $250 ticket to pay. Did this get resolved?

Yeah I sold that TiBook for $250. I just have to wait for the funds to transfer. What other post were you talking about? The one I just posted?

In your "Why College is so Important" thread, you said something about a ticket. I thought you were referring to this ticket, but when went back it kinda reads like a plane ticket.
