If the machine supports Front Row, then the remote would have had the option to come with it.

Cool, thanks for the info!

So, if I get an Apple remote my iMac will be able to take advantage of this? It has the ability to recieve the signal from the remote?

If it has Front Row installed then it should have the infra red receiver in the front round about where the apple symbol is, I believe.

Otherwise in the meantime just use the up/down arrows/Return key to navigate.

Strange, there's no remote ... I take it you purchased this second hand? If not, I'd be askin' for a remote.

Good point, every Mac comes with that little remote now. I'm surprised you don't have one

Wow I didn't know it was a custom option with that iMac!

And to answer the kids questions as no-one here has yet:

Yes, if you buy a remote, you will be able to take advantage of Front Row.

If the remote doesn't work out-of-the-box, try this.

No I purchased it new. I just checked the Apple site and it says that the remote is not included with the 17" 1.83Ghz Core 2 Duo Model.
