After seeing another thread that listed this, thought it might be interesting to see how many times folks go through sleep / wake cycles between times of re-booting their machines.

My current is:

Total Sleep/Wakes since boot:289
MBA:~ Ghost$

And possible a thread to point folks to asking how often we shut down our machines vs just putting them to sleep.

Forgot, you can find that number by opening terminal and typing

pmset -g log

It'll be right at the bottom of the log.
Could be an easier way?

I'm only on 19...I must have restarted/rebooted recently.

Actually (looking at things a bit closer)...maybe I don't know what I'm looking at. It does say at the bottom of the log..."Total Sleep/Wakes since boot:19".

My sleep/wake log/list is pretty long...with the oldest sleep/wake cycle being from February 4th (almost 30 days ago). Heck...I have at least 7 sleep/wake cycles from just yesterday!

- Nick

p.s. I don't use Terminal very much...so not so familiar with it.

Maybe if dysfunction sees this thread, he can tell us if that really means what it says.

Way... way too many specs to list.

I'm on my iPad, I'll play with it in my machine tomorrow. To be honest, I generally use pmset to troubleshoot sleep/wake issues.

But, now I'm very very curious ;)

Ok, so on my machine.. this number looks to be correct for exactly what it would seem to be:

mikembp:Volumes mike$ pmset -g log |grep -i "total sleep"
Total Sleep/Wakes since boot:35
mikembp:Volumes mike$ uptime
8:37 up 12 days, 1:13, 3 users, load averages: 1.65 2.21 2.39
mikembp:Volumes mike$

This is really about right, the last time I rebooted was the SMC firmware update.

Looking closer....

mikembp:Volumes mike$ pmset -g log |grep 'Sleep/Wakes'

Appreciate that.

From where my MBA is sitting right now, would guess I am frequently over 500 sleep/wake cycles between re-boots.

yea, I've been having to reboot too frequently recently. Not sure what the deal is, although, in general.. I just blame eclipse... because I can ;)

2010 imac, 2011 13" mbp, Ipad mini, Ipad air
on the imac it's about 3 or 4 times a year with the exception of a restart on some updates, I'm not a power user, and with the mbp probably every 2 weeks or so.

Oh fun! I started back when I was in college. We called it Frisbee Golf. Didn't have all these fancy discs they have today, omg 40 yrs ago... My roommate and I set up a course at one of the colleges in town that started and ended on our front porch. That course died when the house was turned into a parking lot a few years later. :Angry-Tongue:

Had a course at a 2nd university in town that I heard a couple of years ago is still being played.

Yea, funny thing about trademarks.. the 'F' word isn't allowed in anything official.. so I still normally refer to it as 'frolf', no one else would have a clue :D the baskets are better than the tonal poles ever were either. I think I can fit more disks in my large bag than existed when I first played :Mischievous:
