iMovie lost!!

Hello, I have one Mac computer In my household of 6, so there alot of people logging in and out. So anyway I logged into my computer today to find the the iMovie application has disappeared. I lost my boot disks in a moving process last year, and I was just wondering if there was anywhere to safely and freely obtain this application.

The best method would be to restore from your backup - you do have a backup?

Possibly call Apple and ask for a set of replacement discs. I have seen members report getting these as cheap as free on occasion - otherwise they have been fairly inexpensive.

There is no other legal method to it for free.

You could also buy it from the App Store for only $15 - link - this would allow you to put it on up to 5 Macs and re-download it if lost again.

I'd still be trying to get that set of replacement discs though. And if you don't have a backup and no restore discs, you're really only asking for even bigger headaches than this one.

You need to set up different account for each person, this limits what they can do and what apps they can access.

That too - def don't allow the kids to log into an admin account on your primary computer.
I don't allow my wife to log in as admin on my primary machine.
Even though she's gotten better at not screwing up the OS since I switched her over to OS X.

Thanks for the tips, but right now I'm in costa rica for the summer so I probably can't get backups. Also how do i backup my files?

purchase an external drive a few times larger than your internal hard drive and use Time Machine. (unless they erased that too ;D)

I clicked bobtomay's link and it said I needed to go onto software update to download Mac app store, but all the available updates are garage band and iTunes (I updated them)

I would guess then you're still running Leopard and have not upgraded to Snow Leopard?
