Risk factor of torrents

Hello,

I was curious to hear if anyone has had any bad experiences, virus and security-wise, with their Mac as a result of downloading torrent files and using the various clients. I come from a background of PC's and, finally owning a Mac, am very sensitive about doing anything potentially harmful. Please let me know what you think.

There aren't really any Mac viruses out in the wild. It's possible that you may download something nasty in a torrent, sure, but it won't really do anything unless you pass it onto a PC.

I have never experienced any negative effects of using torrents on either Macs or PCs.

i use them all the time and never had a problem so far.

3rd that, and unfortunately there isnt really any tried and tested virus scanners for the mac, so if we ever do have the problems that Windows computers have we may be in a bit of trouble.
