My score - MacBook Pro (Late 2008) : Geekbench Result Browser

No - we know about it, my results are posted there and plotted against similar machines - this is just a MacForums only run - with a running tally for bragging rights and to see how it correlates with Rob's Xbench thread - and just for fun. :)

I could go pull my plots of where my machine stacks up against similar machines from the results browser.

VERY NICE chart you made (very professional looking)!:)

As far as the "bragging writes"...I'm not really into that so much (some folks probably are). Bragging writes for the fastest computer really is like a "dog chasing his tail".;)

- You never really get anywhere.
- There's always someone faster.
- And if you want to stay on top (or near the top)...you better have a BIG bank account!;)

I think that it's fun comparing models & scores from folks you actually know vs. anonymous scores found in an online database.:) And VERY nice (if someone has a computer very similar to your's)...to be able to ask them questions to see how their system is different from yours...to somehow "tease out" why scores may be different.

- Nick

Same here as Nick, no bragging rites at all. Just participating as a forum member to make the results interesting. I should run both on my iBook G4 1.33 and the G4 Mini. I will do that later.

Also know about the Share button on both XBench and GeekBench. Prefer to put the results right here on the forums.

Hahaha, mine is just terrible compared to those MBPs and MPs. Look that three year old MacBook (not) go!

Although it's going to look like I'm coming up with excuses, I stand by my philosophy - benchmarks are irrelevant as long as the machine is fast enough for the user. Still fun to do though.

Check the one for my 2.16 Mini. Ours are close. Your MB is a bit faster. Will run it one more time later.

Knew about it, didn't feel like using it (for some reason). ;)

I'm off to try my again to see if I can get that coveted last place ;).

Update: This time it dropped to 2975. Looks like your Mini and my MB are about the same in terms of performance (according to GeekBench).

I have the second oldest machine on that list. *scurries off to check the funds in the savings account*

I will shake my mouse when the test is running and slow mine down so I can be the lowest! :D

It's a race to the bottom eh? Next time I do this, I'll run a VM that's compiling some heavy duty code. That should do it. :p

LOL no. What I did was I just grabbed the results I had when I Geekbenched it in March. I did run the test again and the results were only about 12 pts off - but just so you know I'm not stacking the deck - I'll reGeek - and post those as well. :)

Leaderboard will be updated shortly - Happy Mother's Day! :)

How is it my Late 2009 MacBook...oh wait, my MacBook is a few years younger than bobtomay's MBP. Silly me.

7th place not too shabby! I'll repost my results when I get my SSD in the near future! :)
Be interesting to see the difference!

Got it down to 2723 - ran an update in one of my Linux VMs while GeekBench ran.

If you run it on battery power you might do even 'better'.
