air port extreme

I am resurrecting a 2005 g5 for a specific purpose. It never had an air port card in it. I installed an extreme card. The card works when i play with the setting but when i boot up the g5, every time, it does not see the router. it is roughly 25' from the router, straight line with one door between them. I have two other macs that run fine from further distances. Any ideas why the g5 looses its settings and cannot locate the router after boot up.
