My macbook pro is running 10.6.8. I am trying to set up icloud but there is no icloud icon in my system preferences. I am told that I need a later version of OS X - 10.7.2 I think but software update tells me that there are no updates available for my computer. When I try to download the update from the apple store site I am told that I need to be running 10.7.1 first so I download this but it won't install, it tells me I need to be running 10.7 first but I can't find 10.7 anywhere. What's up?

10.7 Lion is only available from the Mac APP Store or on USB direct from Apple.
