Hi guys,

I am new here and have needed to approach you at MF because no one over here (uk) can help, so i am approaching the professionals....

I am using iweb06 with easy iweb publisher and i have a great website that i cant publish.

Every time i press the configure button on easy iweb publisher i get the below message;

(Red icon) "Connection failure. Cannot contact ftp://www.mydomainname.co.uk"

I think i have filled in all the correct boxes!? here it is below;

Configuration Name: "Default Configuration"
Upload Web Site to: ftp:// "www.mydomainname.co.uk"
Folder to publish to:i have left this blank but i have also tried "public_html"
Web site username: Provided to me by my web host
Web site Password: Provided to me by my web host

Does it cause problems that i have purchased both host space and my domain from 2 different companies?

I really am at a loss here and i have gone through every utube video and just about every page on the net but still no joy!

Please help!!!!

Gwilday

Ah. Understood. I wasn't sure. Everything looks good. What about using a regular FTP client?

Hey, no problem. It's what I'm here for.

FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. You're most likely using a very basic and rudimentary FTP client in iWeb there, but there are definitely some alternatives. This requires publishing your site to a folder.

Next, try to download FileZilla - The free FTP solution

Also, I strongly recommend that you learn HTML codes. iWeb and other WYSIWYG programs add extra codes, directories, and files that are not necessary. Websites tend to become a mess and you're basically just working with what some program designed, not the look YOU want.

Hmm. It should. Let's check the requirements and see what the problem is. Go to Apple>About This Mac and post your specs for me, please.

And what is your OS version?

You need to drag that icon into your Applications folder as a first step, but if your OS version is below 10.5.0 I'll need to find you a different program.

You have to do it in Firefox. Click the download link and it will install right into the browser.

lol,

it downloaded straight onto my desk top! i added it to apps, then dragged and dropped into the dock. Tried opening it and but yet again, bounced once then didn't open.

I must be doing something wrong (stupid bloody english)

Do you have any other ideas i can fail miserably at?
