Hi,
I am a novice film maker and want to know which movie editing software is better and more suited to my needs. I currently use imovie and am quite good at using it. I was looking into final cut pro, adobe premiere and adobe after effects and would like to know which one is better, best value for money, most user friendly etc. I am only 15 and don't plan on making a career out of film making. Something like imovie with much more features. Please help as I am quite curious.

Thanks :)

Try Adobe Premiere Elements. It has lots of features and is quite easy to use.
There is a free trial available.

Cool, thanks. But is adobe premiere different to adobe premiere elements, or is it basically the same?

Basically the same but a bit stripped down. You should be able to do most things with Elements, plus it is a lot cheaper.
It would be a good step up from iMove but not to difficult to learn.

Final Cut Pro X is also a good choice for someone who is adept at the current versions of iMovie. And cheap.

Not saying Adobe Premiere (or its Elements version) aren't good -- I'm sure they are -- just saying that since you're already adept at iMovie, at least LOOKING at the next (Apple) step up would seem to me to be the logical choice ...

But does final cut pro x have more features than adobe premiere? Or are they relatively similar?

Anyways FCP X is a powerful App now with all the updates Apple have put in. I would suggest downloading and see which suits you as you get a trial to test them out.
