Downloading it now. Will report back. Besides the battery life fix, It also adds Multitasking gestures to the iPad I. Should be interesting.

I still want to know what they turned off for this fix - because I sort of suspect that they may have especially given this quick turn around.

They turned off Canadian language support just for Van! Grin

Sorry, I would also love to know what they did to improve the battery life.

i have just tried to download this update and i keep getting the message: The iPhone could not be updated. This is because the device isn't eligible for the requested build.

anyone else found this?

Is this on both your iPad 2 and iPhone 4? You have IOS5 on both?

I wonder if it's because you are not in the USA or something? It's very early as it was just released, but it came down and installed fine here on my iPad One. I will check around and see if I can find anyone else having your issue.

You mean it's going to start autocorrecting "eh" and "poutine"?

As a heads up for everyone here - you need to have your iOS device plugged in or it has to have more than 50% battery for the OTA update to work.

Good find Van about the 50% battery life. To update the IOS I always plug in.
And Van, Lion does Autocorrect Poutine when I spell it wrong! Grin

I was in a lecture today, bored out of my mind...as usual...and started playing with some settings on my phone when I noticed that there was a software update available. At first, I thought I had somehow found a glitch or something that let me download an unreleased update, but I soon found out that they had actually released it. I updated for straight from my iPhone, which stopped a couple of times because I was in a bad location for both wifi and 3g, but it eventually did fully install and restart. I guess if I had a perfect connection, things would have gone smooth like butter. Not bad! Time to see if if this fixes the battery issue.

Yes, we have to organize another one of those. Your time difference though is killer mate (thought I'd thrown in some Australian vernacular there for you).

I really hope this isn't limited to the iPhone. Everyone keeps talking about a fix for the iPhone but I'm hoping that's only because iPhone generally gets used to represent all iOS devices.

Any feedback on battery performance after the update?

I'm in a little more than an hour and have been instgramming heavily - and am down to 97%. Going to take a day or so to really get a feel for what the difference is.

Agree with Brian, going to take at least 24-48 hours to really see if it's improved.
