iwork 08 and iwork 10

The answer will depend on how new the computer is and you have not included that information. iWork 08 was designed and updated to run up to Mountain Lion 0S X.8 from memory.

It depends on which version of OS X your iMac is running. Apple iWork 08 will not run on Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks. It will install, but not work because it needs Rosetta.

You can, however, use the next-most-recent version of iWork apps (the "iWork 09" programs) and the new iWork 10 apps on the same computer. Both work fine.
If you're in the middle of a project and need to finish, buy a copy of iWork 09 off ebay or someplace, install it, and use those until you finish. Then get used to the new versions, because that's it going forward (and recent updates have been great!).
