Installing OS Snow leopard >>

Is it possible to use the installation discs i got with my iMAC to install Snow-leopard on my dads other system which is using Tiger. I have tried and it just throws up the error message, This operating system cannot be installed on this computer. What is going on here? is there something i need to do. Or do i need to buy the discs from the retailer? Thanks

No...those silver/gray disks are model specific.

You need to get this:

Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.)

And this will be fine to install from Tiger?

What Mac does your dad own?

It is an older iMAC its about 3 - 4 years old now, i am not too sure to be honest with you, mine is relatively new.

It's relatively easy to find this info...go to:

- Apple drop-down menu
- Choose "About This Mac"

This window will provide some info. For more detailed info...click on the "More Info" button in this window.

I cant at this moment in time, but when i get chance i will have a look at that, i am currently at work you see.

Was asking just to be sure it's an intel Mac.

I think it does have a Core 2 Intel Processor, although i can't be positive about that yet.
