When is the Apple light on the lid of the MacBook supposed to light up?

When the computer is running, and the screen is lit up. It uses light from the back of the LCD screen to light the apple.

there is a hack ill be doing once my warrantee is done.. using some color gell sheets behind the apple logo on the lid so it glows blue or some other color of my choice.. makes you white macbook look very very cool.. look for image of this hack around the web .. very cool.

Hard part is selecting the color :)

Maybe add a worm in the apple as well? That would be unique.

a 'worm' in an apple? haha, the irony. That WOULD be unique, heheh

Given the choice of colours, I'd go with blue for mine - to match my Wii.

edit: speaking of choices - take a look here! Instructions, gallery and all.

I have a red apple on my blackbook. I haven't voided my warranty however. :black:

You can purchase this same decal in multiple colors from this ebay seller:
bjhautoparts

I bought a blue one and a red one from him. The blue one went on my friend's Macbook pro and looks great!

Make sure when you apply them, you dab on a little water that is slightly soapy on the white apple and leaf, that way you can freely slide around the decal into the right position before it adheres. This is not noted in the included directions of the decal, but it works GREAT!

I hope you all enjoy warranty covered colored apples! :)

I think the Red Apple logo looks the. Blue and green are cool, but there is something about red and black...

Does that go on the outside of the MacBook? Or inside, under the cover.

You have to crack the back casing open and put a colored piece of plastic in there. Definitely voids the warranty.

I have seen people color them with markers or paint before though. This probably still voids the warranty, but is less risky.

The one in the link that I sent is a sticker cut to the shape of the apple on the OUTSIDE of the case. You DO NOT OPEN the case with the product that i have linked above. That is why I got it. :)

The product that I listed does not require opening of the case. it is a decal cut to the exact size of the apple and is stuck over the all on the outside of the case.

Just make sure when you apply it you put some soapy water on the apple/leaf so you can move around the apple freely to get it positioned right. They you have to squeegy it out... I left a little water in there and just let it dry and now everything is perfect! :black:

Hmm, not too sure about the water + expensive Apple Notebook idea, think I'll just be careful. I'll post back here when it's on, with pics if I can be bothered.

I ordered Blue, by the way.
