iBook Screen

My wife's G4 iBook suddenly has a horizontal line across the bottom of the screen. It has never been dropped or damaged so I'm assuming its the Logic Board. I have read in the past that there were problems with iBook Logic Boards but don't know if this is the problem. Any ideas about the cause/fix and costs involved?

Does the line change at all when you move the display back and forth?

It is probably a screen issue.

No, the line seems to be permanent.

pretty obvious i think lol - no hard feelings.

probs logic board. - if you have apple care take it into an apple store.

Someone said it was a logic board issue. How is that possible? If the rest of the screen works, it can't be a logic board issue. That part of the screen is dead, possibly permanently.
I am having screen problems on with my iBook so I speak with experience. I put a new monitor on my ibook and it worked perfectly.
It is a screen issue.

there are two things you can do. If they don't fix your problem then you have a bad screen.

There is also a small chance that the problem may be the screen cable is pinched..... but yeah, a more common problem is most likely the logic board.

It turns out this was the infamous logic board problem and with a charge of £600 to fix it I'll be buying my wife a Macbook!
