Can anybody tell me how well Lion runs on a 13" Macbook Pro 2.26 GHz core 2 duo with 4 GB?

It's running Snow Leopard at the moment but I like the OS on my new iMac 27" and would like it on the laptop. Quite new to all things Mac (I was running Mostly Windows 7 on the MBP until recently!) so I need a bit of advice before I buy Lion.

Thanks!

I've been running Lion on my 15" MBP (see my specs) since the first day it came out and it's doing great. I recommend it.

Did the iMac ship with Lion? And you registered it under your Apple ID?

Go into the App Store on your MBP. Check the Purchases tab there and see if Lion is available for you to download without paying for it again. I know that the latest version of GB, iPhoto... will be available for you to download to your MBP just based on registering your new machine.

If so, make sure you have a backup of SL first, then go ahead, download and install Lion.

I thought about that but had my doubts that Apple would just give someone Lion on their other Macs just because they bought a new Mac. That's awesome if it works. Saves you $29. As if Lion wasn't a great deal already. :)

Yes, the iMac shipped with Lion (and it's registered) - I've only had it two weeks. I've checked the App Store in the MBP but when I click on the 'Purchased' link nothing shows... so I guess I'll have to buy it!

MYmacROX - thanks for the encouragement!

Sure, no problem.

Try this on your MBP... Go into the Mac App Store. Search for Lion. Hold the Option key down and then click on the Lion icon. When it opens the page for Lion, it should say "Install" under the icon at the top. That is if Apple is allowing you to install it as discussed earlier.

Was wondering. I did get access to the latest iLife apps on my other machines for free after registering a new Mac. I had already installed Lion on them prior to getting it though.

I'm writing this on my 2007 Core2Duo Blackbook -- I have 3GB of RAM and a large hard drive with lots of free space, but the combination of those three things has made my machine ROCK even better than when it was new.

I'm running Lion on a very similar machine with no issues.

Running Lion here on a 2007 C2D iMac with 4GB RAM. Very smooth and fast here.
